El DÍA E - Saturday June 23rd, 2012 (11am - 4pm)

El Día E, Día del Español, is a unique day of celebration of the Spanish language in New York! In the past edition, Instituto Cervantes engaged all New Yorkers in an open block party to celebrate a language that is spoken by more than 400 million people. El Día E offered a street fair full of games, free performances, activities for the whole family, and food and drinks, with which we celebrated the variety and richness of the Spanish language and the cultures of all the Spanish-speaking countries and communities.

All New Yorkers, both Spanish and non-Spanish speakers, joined the fiesta and participated in the activities offered for people of all ages!

Organized by Instituto Cervantes for the first time in 2009, this year it took place once again with renovated enthusiasm in the 73 Institutos Cervantes that are spread throughout the world. Instituto Cervantes is a unique institution created and endorsed by the Spanish government in 1991 to promote the Spanish language and the cultures of Spanish-speaking countries.
